Following a successful year filled with blockbusters, September will be comparably calmer, but with several vital releases worth keeping an eye on. Sony’s next high-profile remake in The Last of Us series will dominate this month, but Nintendo’s colorful shooter brand will undoubtedly make an impression with other smaller-scale video games.
Souls Hackers 2
Altus is known for producing some of the best JRPGs in the business, and the major release this year is a long-awaited sequel to another Shin Megami Tensei spin-off series. After 25 years, Soul Hackers 2 will eventually succeed its PS1 predecessor, with its plot centred on two warring Devil Summoner gangs.

Then, two supernatural beings spawned from the data stream descend onto the human world to save them. The gameplay revolves around a turn-based combat system that emphasizes exploiting enemy weaknesses for deadly assaults, performing special skills, and utilizing demon allies. It draws inspiration from the parent SMT and the spin-off contemporary series Persona while adding a sci-fi twist. On August 26, Soul Hackers 2 will be made available on the PC, XSX|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Saints Row
The Saints Row series, like Rockstar Games’ classic Grand Theft Auto franchise, became well-known and addictively exciting open-world action-adventure games in their own right. As further entries were released, the video games became increasingly more dramatic and over-the-top, delving into bizarre supernatural and sci-fi aspects while preserving their sense of humor.
That self-aware comedy and absurd action helped it distinguish itself from GTA, and publisher Deep Silver and developer Volition is releasing the next big episode in the Saints Row series. The game meant to be a relaunch for the brand, with the scenario centered on a group of ex-gang members attempting to defeat the rivaling organizations they left behind. The game will be available on August 23rd for the PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX|S, and PC.
Spider-Man Remastered (PC Port)
Insomniac’s Spider-Man was launched in 2018 to good reviews and rapidly rose to the top of the list of top-tier contemporary superhero video games. The game arguably accomplished what creators Rocksteady did with the acclaimed Batman: Afkham series years before. Spider-Man commended its exciting and emotionally engaging narrative on top of cathartic web-swinging and battle features.
The PS5 Remastered version gave it a good facelift for the next console generation, though it didn’t strictly need it. Now it’s finally coming to PC. It’s been exciting to see Sony PlayStation expand into this platform, and countless fans will be excited to play Spider-Man Remastered at its full potential on August 12th.
Ennobled Chronicles 3
Fans will finally be able to get their hands on Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3, undoubtedly July’s most high-profile release. Since the initial lauded JRPG on the Nintendo Wii, this series and Monolith themselves have gained a great deal of goodwill, and three intended to expand on the series’ fundamental gameplay in a significant way.
The game’s sci-fi fantasy plot will feature two heroes and follow the constant warfare between the mechanically-oriented realm of Keeves and the ether-oriented country of Agnus. The total number of characters is increased to seven, and instead of using three-character parties, players can choose from a variety of character classes. The Nintendo Switch version of Ennobled Chronicles will released on July 29th.
Stray
Stray, the PlayStation exclusive, puts the player in the role of the titular stray cat in what is possibly the most innovative game arriving in July. The charming title from developer BlueTwelve Studio is an adventure game in which this feline protagonist tries to find his family after falling into an alternate universe filled with robots, viruses, and other machinery.
